Supporting nature recovery, at home and further afield

At Everoze, our work is focused on supporting the energy transition, but our environmental responsibility goes beyond the projects we work on. This year, we’ve also been supporting nature recovery in different ways, from getting our hands dirty at a local nature reserve to contributing to forest restoration following the devastating wildfires in France.

A day giving back at Warleigh Nature Reserve

Recently, a group of the Everoze team swapped laptops for loppers and spent the day volunteering with Protect Earth at Warleigh Nature Reserve, helping with woodland coppicing and habitat management.

For many of us, it was our first experience of coppicing. This traditional woodland management technique encourages healthy new growth, creates diverse habitats for wildlife and helps keep woodlands thriving for generations to come.

The work was certainly physical, but there was something incredibly satisfying about spending a day outdoors and making a practical contribution to nature recovery.

The day also built on our support for Protect Earth. Earlier this year, Everoze made a financial contribution to the organisation as part of our carbon emissions mitigation approach. Volunteering at Warleigh gave us the opportunity to complement that financial support with something more hands-on and to see first-hand the local conservation work being carried out.

It was also a great reminder that tackling environmental challenges isn’t only about policies, strategies and reports. Sometimes it’s about rolling up your sleeves, working together and helping to care for the places on our doorstep.

A huge thank you to the Protect Earth team for welcoming us, sharing their knowledge and for the fantastic work they do to restore and enhance nature across the UK. We’re already looking forward to coming back.

Supporting forest restoration in France

Alongside local initiatives like this, we’re also supporting nature recovery further afield.

This summer, wildfires tore through parts of Europe, with areas of France among the hardest hit. As the wildfire season comes to an end, we’ve been reflecting on the devastation left behind. More than 95,000 hectares burned in France this year, destroying forests and wildlife, threatening lives and disrupting communities.

To help support the restoration of areas affected by the wildfires, Everoze is donating €8,000 to ONF (Office National des Forêts).

Through its work to regenerate forests, protect biodiversity and reduce natural fire hazards, ONF-Agir pour la forêt is helping to build greater resilience for the future while preserving France’s forest heritage.

Restoring these areas will take time, but whether through financial support or getting involved directly, we believe there are different ways we can play a part in helping nature recover and protecting these landscapes for generations to come.
