Consultant – Technical Advisory in Energy Storage (BESS) – France

We are recruiting a Consultant to strengthen our expertise in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will contribute to technical advisory projects, due diligence, and strategic support for developers, investors, and financial institutions.

Salary: A competitive basic salary related to your experience, plus pension scheme, annual profit share and route into company ownership.

Location: Lyon or Paris

Hours: Normal office hours with a healthy level of flexibility. Preference for 5 days per week but will consider candidates who would prefer part-time with a minimum of 4 days per week.

What you will be doing

• Technical due diligence: Assessment of BESS projects (technology, design, contracts, financial model, etc.) for acquisitions or financing.
• Project support: Advising project developers from design through commissioning.
• Site visits: Participation in testing, construction monitoring, quality control, and stakeholder interface.
• Business development: Active involvement in client relationships, identifying opportunities, and preparing proposals.
• Project management: Leading complex projects as project manager or director.

Essential skills and qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent (Master’s level).
• 3 to 10 years of experience in the energy sector, ideally in technical consulting.
• Good understanding of renewable energy projects; prior experience in storage or with a BESS developer/integrator is a plus.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
• Strong writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves, any of the following

• In-depth knowledge of storage, energy markets, or aggregation.
• Previous experience as a project manager in renewables, asset manager, or operations manager.
• Experience in batteries within a developer or integrator environment.
• Skills in auditing, contracts, M&A, project finance, or supply chain.
• Proficiency in other European languages.
